Bantam AA 2018
Bantam AA 2018

The 15U Bantam AA is a single season league. Unlike most other BC Baseball divisions, where there are separate spring and summer teams, 15U AA teams stay together for the entire season (March - August). The schedule will include exhibition games, league games, tournaments and Provincials. At the end of the season, players can expect to have played around 50-60 games. Players can also expect to be on the field 4-5 days a week. Practice and potentially one league game will occur on weekdays, while majority of the league games are scheduled on both weekend days. It is imperative that all AA players are available for weekend games. There will be 34 teams in the league with 4 located in the Okanagan. Travel to the Okanagan for 4 games will be necessary. These four games will be played over one weekend trip to the Okanagan. There will be no travel to the Island.
The 15U Bantam AA will play 36 league games between April 7 and July 16. The Provincial tournament will take place August 1-4. The Provincial Champion will travel to San Diego August 10-13 for an International Tournament. Non Provincial winning teams can participate in the Baseball Canada Provincials August 9-12. The Provincial Champion from this event will play in the Western Championships August 17-19 in Manitoba.
A high level of commitment at the 15U AA level is expected. The coaching staff understands that other sports (hockey, soccer etc.) may take precedence in March. That being said, when the calendar turns to April, the coaching staff will expect full commitment from all players on the current roster as baseball should be first priority in regards to extra-curricular activities.
The 15U AA Division players are allowed to use metal cleats. Bats must adhere to 2 3/4" max barrel with either a drop of -3 marked BBCOR or -8 marked BPF1.15 or USABB. Wood or wood composite bats are also allowed. Bases are at 80 feet and the pitching distance is 54 feet. A team can roster up to 15 players. We expect to roster 12-13 players.
There will be an additional per player cost for 2018 15U Bantam AA. This fee is expected to be between $700 and $800, depending on the budgeted expenses. This fee is in addition to the registration fee paid to the association. The additional fee will cover the BC Minor League fee, Provincial fees, team apparel, additional equipment, tournaments, indoor training, exhibition umpire fees and other miscellaneous expenses.
Tryouts will be held at Riverview Park. After the first weekend players will be released to Single A. These players will be notified by email. The remaining players will participate in a second weekend of evaluations. Further releases will occur after weekend 2. The Final roster is expected to be set by the beginning of March.
